I run the Surrey Sighthound Walking Group (SSWG), a social group for sighthounds and owners based in and around Surrey, which meets a couple of times a month to walk together at some of the county’s loveliest locations. When SSWG gets together, the routes we take are largely in my head and I call out directions. This site was originally about getting those walks out of my brain so everyone can enjoy them whenever they like. It was to be a gift to the group to celebrate our fifth anniversary on 26 February 2022.

However, since I started building this site, Rena passed away so, while it is still a ‘birthday present’ for SSWG, this project has taken on a whole new depth of meaning to me.
These walks are at places that Rena and I loved to go together, and I hope that it has some walks that you don’t already know about. In this way, Rena’s memory will live on through the happy hounds that benefit from the knowledge we gathered about some gorgeous spots during our precious years together.
Since Rena passed, I have welcomed Mike to the pack. He is a whippet and a total loon, who is loving going to all these places – and the four of us will no doubt find even more places to walk together going forward.

I will add more routes as I find time. It is important to me to walk each one again to remember the fun Rena and I had together, and to really pay attention to details that will help me write up half-useful descriptions – I wouldn’t want anyone getting lost because of shoddy directions.
Happy adventures!

If you enjoy this site or any of the walks on it and would like to show your appreciation, please make a donation to the Surrey Sighthound Walking Group. SSWG doesn’t take a penny from the money we raise – it is all split and shared equally between the charities we fundraise for:
