The custom Googlemap below – titled “Rena’s top walk spots” – has some great locations to walk marked on it.
Many of these markers have Footpath app route links in the info boxes that come up when you click on them. These are routes that I have come up over the years while exploring, and I have plotted them out on the app and made those shareable.
They are greyhound-friendly – no stiles to (fail to) lug an unimpressed/uncooperative 30kg dog over; and mostly between 2-3 miles in length, a distance range that suits the majority of our 40mph couch potato companions.
You can just click on the Footpath route URL in the info box to load that walk, and follow the line on the map in your app. If I have gotten around to writing out a self-guided walk page for the location, that page URL will be in the info box too.
— Green P markers denote free parking – dark green is an actual car park, lighter green means on-road/street parking
— Red P markers mean there may be parking charges – often National Trust (so, in those cases, parking will actually be free for members)
— Black markers are pubs, bars and cafes that allow dogs
— Blue markers note points of interest, such as ponds, scheduled monuments etc.
— Orange markers are vets (opening hours in the information box)
— Light red/orange-ish markers are 24 hours/emergency vets
What about if I don’t have the Footpath app?
The Footpath app is free and available on iOS and Android so I can’t think of a reason to not get it. However, I’ll be exporting Footpath app walk routes and adding them to this map as I create the self-guided walks pages so you will be able to see the route line on Googlemaps too.
Note:
If the map is not loading on this page, click here and it should open in Googlemaps.
